Traditional circle / Velum Fermentation

We're excited to launch a new jam (on the other side of the Mon!) at Velum Fermentation! This jam is open to acoustic stringed instrument players (sorry, no amps or percussion!), whether you’re brand new to jamming or you’ve been playing for years. The focus is on creating a welcoming, flexible space where each player can participate at their own level. Some songs may be simple and beginner-friendly, while others may run at faster tempos or include more advanced arrangements, depending on who’s leading. Experienced musicians are encouraged to bring their best playing and singing, but also to keep in mind that newer players may be learning by following along. That might mean simplifying a song choice, taking a shorter solo, or helping the group stay steady on a tune that’s less familiar. Newer players, in turn, are welcome to join in on rhythm or sing a song they know, while listening closely and stepping back if a tune feels out of reach. The heart of an all-levels jam is flexibility and respect. Everyone should feel free to contribute, but also aware of what the group needs to keep the music moving. Advanced players get the chance to stretch out without being held back, and beginners gain the experience of playing side by side with stronger musicians—a balance that makes the jam rewarding for all.
